Our Life In The Spirit

Worship - Sundays at 10:30 AM

We gather each Sunday to worship as a community of faith, to leave our work a day world behind and experience a devotional Sabbath, setting time aside to focus on our life in Christ, to be in fellowship as the Holy Spirit brings us together.

  • Our weekly sermons serve to remind us of God's unwavering love, while also calling us to live our lives in ways that demonstrate our love for all others. The thought-provoking sermons shed the wisdom of Scripture on the challenges of living today.

  • Our uplifting worship services are a beautiful combination of traditional and contemporary prayers, readings, and music. Service music embraces the most loved traditional organ music and hymns as well as contemporary Gospel, spirituals, guest artists, and an adult choir.

  • We celebrate the sacrament of Communion on the first Sunday of each month. No one is excluded from participating!

  • We observe the church seasons.

  • Our services are also livestreamed. Click here to be brought to our Facebook Page.

Youth4Good

This year we launched a new initiative for our young folks: Youth4Good, in which we gather together, share fellowship and plan and then engage in community service activities. These activities include, working with local food pantries and soup kitchens, services for the unhoused, environmental actions like clean-ups and tree-planting, engaging with senior citizens and more.

This group is open to youth from 10 to 17 years of age, and is open to kids from other congregations and schools as well.

Slow Motion Adult Bible Study

Our method is to take our time and dig deeply into Scripture, bringing in cultural, historical, theological, and linguistic backgrounds and resources. There are occasional deep dives down theological or linguistic rabbit holes! Participants are encouraged to have their favorite translation of the Bible with them.

Sessions are on Thursday evenings, but please check our calendar for accurate dates.

Spiritual Direction with our Pastor

“The place where God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”

~ Frederick Buechner

Spiritual Direction (also called Spiritual Formation, Spiritual Life Counseling, Spiritual Friendship, Faith Care, and Compassionate Listening) is a process of working one-on-one with another person to find a deeper intimacy with God and a greater connection to one’s own sacred nature.

My approach to Spiritual Life Counseling is based on the Quaker model, which is called “Compassionate Listening”. By practicing active, compassionate listening I am able to be a companion on your spiritual journey to wholeness and acceptedness. I have been doing this work for nearly 20 years, starting as an Ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church USA, and then as a Compassionate Listener within the regional Quaker community, and as both an ordained Interspiritual Minister and UCC Minister.

Along with Compassionate Listening I utilize Queries, open-ended questions that provide plenty of relevant and constructive food for thought and room for personal spiritual growth. These questions are an ideal focal point for meditation, prayer or journaling. There is no judgment or agenda: I simply hold open the doors to wholeness, self-acceptance and understanding that are already right there in front of you!

This work occurs in monthly one-to-one sessions. Let’s sit together and share your questions and experiences of what you find meaningful – and what you find puzzling. Speak your mind, speak what’s on your heart – I’m here to listen and accompany you on your journey back to your authentic, sacred self. Learn to make space for God in your life. Your life will never be the same, and you’ll know that it was your own heart and your own devotion that brought you back to the Divine that dwells within your true, authentic self.

Beyond Sundays

We believe that we are called to live out our faith every day, in every moment, and in every encounter with others. We do our best to mindfully live lives of righteousness and holiness every day, reflecting with gratitude upon God's presence in our life, and the great gifts of the Holy Spirit.
